"The whole package gives us traceability and assurance of works"
-- Strathbogie Shire Council

"The major impediments to proper infrastructure provision have been a lack of co-ordination between levels of Government, a failure to put in place long term plans for infrastructure which has a life of up to 100 years or more, and the generally low priority given to infrastructure budgets for capital works, rehabilitation and maintenance"

Overview

The Work Management System is a Work Order creation and tracking system designed for asset owners / custodians / contractors to manage Work Orders for their infrastructure.

WMS Insert screen More specifically, the system is an Activity Based Costing (ABC) tool that documents all maintenance and capital activities in a technical and dollar format through the use of Work Orders. Orders can be manually created or scheduled at specific intervals, eg regular routine maintenance, regular inspections, one off tasks, etc. All work performed is costed to a contract or budget and used to measure performance.

The Work Management System combines the strengths of two other Loftus HMS modules. The first of these is the Contract Management System, developed to suit workflow processes in New Zealand where work is contracted to a 3rd party and tracking of Resource expenditure is not necessary. The second module is the older Maintenance Management System, which does track the expenditure of individual labour, equipment and material Resources.

WMS is the ideal combination of both these systems. It provides the flexibility of either an Activity only based approach or full Resource costing to labour, equipment and materials enabling detailed profit and loss figures to be determined.

The Work Management System is the ideal tool to control budgets and capture "as constructed" data for updating Asset Management Systems and is available in asset specific disciplines for: Roads, Sewer, Water, Drainage, Parks, Buildings and Bridges.

WMS was enhanced to enable Victorian local authorities to successfully meet the requirements of the Victorian Road Management Bill shortly after it was proposed in mid-2003. Now passed in parliament, the Road Management Act holds authorities accountable for their road infrastructure requiring them to maintain transparent documentation which details all maintenance and inspection actions performed by them.

The Work Management System is also supplied with a Defect Logging System (DLS) that captures inspection information on laptops, notebooks and Tablet PCs. DLS defects are converted directly to WMS Work Orders and scheduled for completion.

The Work Management System uses a powerful SQL Server client-server engine and has many flexible features to help you do your job better and minimise your organisation's exposure and risk.

A brief summary of the many features of the system is presented below. For a full list and access to a 30-day evaluation system please download the WMS product brochure
